When and where is the Pre-COP Stakeholder Program?
The Pre-COP Stakeholder Program, Vale ni Vanua Knowledge Exchange, will run from Monday 5 to Thursday 8 October 2026 in Nadi, Fiji (UTC +12). The program will run alongside the formal Pre-COP program and will be held across two venues, the Sofitel Denarau Island and Crowne Plaza Nadi Bay.

What does the program offer?
The 4-day program will offer a mix of event formats including keynotes, panels, roundtables, workshops, networking opportunities and cultural performances.

Registration will provide access to a diverse program of sessions, topics and discussions. Opportunities for networking, engagement and interaction will be on offer in the Bula Village and public areas of the venues. The venues will have food and beverage available for purchase.

Can I host an event as part of the Stakeholder Program?
A process to express interest in holding an event as part of the Stakeholder Program took place from 27 July to 14 August. Due to the lead time required to design and finalise the program, we are not able to accept further public proposals.

Who can attend?
Registration to participate in the Stakeholder Program is open to all. The program will bring together a broad cross-section of stakeholders including community leaders, Government officials, academics, scientists, entrepreneurs, start-ups, climate advocates, civil society representatives, youth, First Nations leaders and climate professionals.

How do I register?

Is there a cost to attend the Pre-COP Stakeholder Program?
No, there is no fee to attend the Pre-COP Stakeholder Program.

Is support available to participate in the Pre-COP Stakeholder Program?
Attendees are responsible for all travel, accommodation and meal costs associated with their participation.

If I register to attend the Pre-COP Stakeholder Program, can I also attend the Official Pre-COP program?
No, due to capacity restrictions the Official Pre-COP is by invitation only. Some Stakeholder Program attendees may also receive an invitation to Pre-COP.

By nature, Pre-COP is a significantly smaller event than COP, with fewer attendees. Unfortunately, we are not able to consider requests for an invitation to the Official Pre-COP.

Can I participate or attend online?
No, the Pre-COP Stakeholder program is an in-person event.

What are the themes of the Pre-COP Stakeholder Program?
Events at the Stakeholder Program will be themed around the four policy pillars that guide the COP31 Pacific Partnership:
• keeping 1.5°C within reach
• enhancing access to climate finance
• elevating the ocean-climate nexus
• amplifying Pacific voices and leadership

The program will also emphasise health and climate.

What is Pre-COP and who is organising it?
Fiji, Tuvalu and Australia are partnering to deliver the official COP31 Pre-COP ministerial meeting and Leaders’ event from 5-8 October 2026. These events will bring global climate decision-makers to the Pacific ahead of COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye, providing an opportunity to build momentum for negotiations while showcasing Pacific leadership, perspectives and climate action.

Why is Pre-COP being held in the Pacific?
Hosting the Pre-COP in Fiji places the Pacific at the centre of global climate diplomacy. It gives participating countries the opportunity to hear directly from Pacific representatives, engage with Pacific-led solutions and keep the region’s priorities front of mind before COP31.

How do I get to Fiji and where can I stay?

Many nationalities can enter Fiji without a visa and will instead be issued a Visitor Permit on arrival. A list of visa-exempt nationalities is available on the Fiji Ministry of Immigration website.

Do media need to be accredited to attend Stakeholder Program events?
Yes. Media accredited for the official Pre-COP will also have access to the Stakeholder Program.
