Specific area/s of interest The role of the Australian Youth Delegate to the UN in Australia is centred on listening, advocacy, and direct consultation. Our primary domestic duty is to lead the comprehensive, nationwide "Listening Tour," which is the largest annual face-to-face consultation of young people (aged 12 to 25) in the country. We travel to every State and Territory, consulting with young people in diverse settings like prisons, schools, and remote communities, specifically focusing on marginalized youth, such as First Nations young people, those in care, and those with disabilities. Following this process, we meet with MPs, Government Officials, and NGO heads to share our findings and advocate for the youth-driven solutions, culminating in the delivery of a comprehensive Report with recommendations to Federal and State Governments. Having just delivered our address to the UN General Assembly, our focus now transitions to COP30 in Belém, centering on climate justice and implementation. Our core objectives at COP30 include sharing the voices of thousands of young Australians regarding the climate crisis and its impact on justice and inequality. We aim to amplify the necessity of youth and Indigenous leadership in climate action and push for tangible action on adaptation and resilience for the Pacific region, our most vulnerable neighbors. Ultimately, we seek to ensure that international agreements address the structural inequalities that the climate crisis exacerbates, shifting the focus from abstract debate to urgent, equitable implementation.
